What are the classification of calcium carbonate? Calcium carbonate manufacturers for you!
Release time:
2023-05-11
According to the different production methods of calcium carbonate, calcium carbonate can be divided into heavy calcium carbonate, light calcium carbonate, colloidal calcium carbonate and crystalline calcium carbonate. According to the average particle size (d) of calcium carbonate powder, calcium carbonate can be divided into granular calcium carbonate (d>5μm), micropowder calcium carbonate (1μm) and superfine calcium carbonate (0.02 μm). According to whether the arrangement of atoms and ions constituting calcium carbonate is regular, calcium carbonate can be divided into crystalline calcium carbonate and amorphous calcium carbonate, in addition, there are nano calcium carbonate and the like.

1. Heavy calcium carbonate. Heavy calcium carbonate (commonly known as heavy calcium) is a mechanical method (with Raymont mill or other high-pressure grinding) directly crushed natural calcite, limestone, chalk, shells and other systems.
2. Light calcium carbonate. Light calcium carbonate (commonly known as light calcium carbonate), also known as precipitated calcium carbonate, is calcined from limestone and other raw materials to generate lime (mainly composed of calcium oxide) and carbon dioxide, and then add water to digest lime to generate lime milk (mainly composed of calcium hydroxide), and then pass carbon dioxide carbonized lime milk to generate calcium carbonate precipitation, and then dehydrated, dried and crushed. Or sodium carbonate and calcium chloride double decomposition reaction to generate calcium carbonate precipitation, and then dehydration, drying, crushing.
3. Colloidal calcium carbonate. Colloidal calcium carbonate, also known as active calcium carbonate, modified calcium carbonate, surface-treated calcium carbonate, colloidal calcium carbonate or white rock flower, referred to as active calcium, is made by surface modification of light calcium carbonate or heavy calcium carbonate. As the surface modifier modified calcium carbonate generally has an enhanced effect, that is, the so-called "activity", so it is customary to say that modified calcium carbonate is active calcium carbonate, properties: white fine and light powder, particle surface adsorption with a layer of fatty acid soap, CaCO3 has colloidal activation properties, the proportion of 1.99~2.01.
4. Crystalline calcium carbonate. Properties: Pure white, hexagonal crystalline powder. Specific volume is 1.2-1.4 ml/g. Soluble in acid, almost insoluble in water.
5. Nano calcium carbonate. Nano calcium carbonate (ultrafine calcium carbonate) has good affinity with resin when used in plastics, which can effectively increase or adjust the rigidity, toughness and bending strength of materials, improve the rheological properties of plastic processing systems, reduce plasticizing temperature, and improve the dimensional stability, heat resistance and surface finish of products. In rubber systems such as NR, BR and SBR, it is easy to mix, disperse evenly and soften rubber compounds, improve the extrusion processing performance and mold fluidity, so that the rubber products have a smooth surface, high elongation, high tensile strength, small deformation, good bending resistance, tear resistance and other characteristics.
What are the physical properties of calcium carbonate? Calcium carbonate manufacturers for you!
Calcium carbonate manufacturers, calcium carbonate is white crystalline powder, tasteless and odorless. There are amorphous and crystalline two forms. The crystalline form can be divided into orthorhombic system and hexagonal system (anhydrous calcium carbonate is colorless orthorhombic crystal and hexahydrate calcium carbonate is colorless monoclinic crystal). It is columnar or rhombic, with a density of 2.93g/cm3, a melting point of 1339 ℃ (decomposed at 825-896.6 ℃), a melting point of 1289 ℃ at 10.7MPa, insoluble in alcohol, soluble in ammonium chloride solution, and almost insoluble in water.
